Abstract

This article provides information on the morphology, anatomy, systematics, characteristics and importance of pyrrhotite algae. Pyrrophyte algae are mainly monad, some representatives have coccoid, palmelloid, filamentous structures, and many pigments, including carotene, xanthophyll, peridinin, are found in their composition. The cell structure is dorsoventral, and the membranes contain ejectosome hairs.
