This article provides information about radioactive rays, their types, discovery, and effects on human health and the environment. The historical discovery of the phenomenon of radioactivity, in particular the scientific research of Henri Becquerel, Marie, and Pierre Curie, is covered. The types of alpha, beta, and gamma radiation, their properties, and biological hazards are also analyzed. The work shows the possibilities of using these rays in medicine, energy, and industry, as well as the importance of safety measures. This topic serves to understand the scientific foundations of radioactivity and to think deeply about its consequences
