This article highlights the issues of improving students' social awareness and culture, their opportunities for conscious and active participation in social life as a pedagogical problem. At the same time, it highlights the fact that the development of social awareness in students is closely related to the competency-based approach, and that students' basic subject competencies or social and communicative competencies should be able to find solutions using the knowledge they have acquired in a particular situation, the experiences they have observed and gained in life, their inquisitiveness, and their ability to independently search for information.
