BIOLOGICAL ACTIVE PROPERTIES AND MEDICAL APPLICATIONS OF BARBERRY (BERBERIS VULGARIS L.)
Abstract
Barberry (Berberis vulgaris L.) is a medicinal plant belonging to the Berberidaceae family, widely distributed in temperate regions. In Uzbekistan, it is found on the slopes of the mountains, in particular, in the foothills of the Tashkent, Samarkand, Andijan, Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions. The chemical composition of barberry is rich in alkaloids, flavonoids, organic acids, vitamins and minerals, which determine its therapeutic properties. This article discusses the biologically active components of barberry, their pharmacological effects and their use in modern medicine.
