Abstract

Dental health is important not only aesthetically, but also for general health. The deterioration of the health of the tissues and structures that make up the teeth can, in some cases, cause not only pain, but also serious systemic diseases. Periodontitis and caries are the most common types of dental diseases. Their causes are microbial activity, that is, various bacteria damage the teeth and cause inflammation. Today, new microbiological methods are actively used to identify microorganisms that cause periodontitis and caries.
This article discusses the achievements and methodologies in controlling microorganisms that cause periodontitis and caries using new microbiological methods.
