This work provides information on the general properties of pesticides, their methods of use, and their groups according to their effects. Pesticides are classified according to the object of application, the routes of entry into the body, the nature of the effect, and the chemical composition.
When choosing pesticides, great importance is attached to their toxicity - the property of chemicals to poison the body. The level of toxicity is determined by the dose, that is, the amount of the substance that disrupts or destroys the vital activity of the organism. In order to prevent the negative impact of pesticides on humans, animals, plants, water, and the environment in general, when using them, it is necessary to take into account in advance not only the effect on the pest, but also the effect on the biocenosis, that is, the consequences.
