This paper examines the role of methanogenic bacteria in the production of biogas, an environmentally friendly and renewable energy source.
Methanogenic archaea participate in the final stage of anaerobic digestion of organic waste, converting intermediate decay products into methane.
The paper analyzes the biochemical pathways of methanogenesis, optimal conditions for culturing methanogenic consortia, and engineering approaches to increasing gas yield in bioreactor systems. Particular attention is paid to the possibilities of intensifying the process using modern methods of microbiological and genetic engineering.
The presented materials confirm the promise of methanogen biotechnology in the context of sustainable energy development and organic waste processing.
The production of biogas based on methanogenic bacteria contributes not only to energy independence and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, but also to the efficient utilization of organic waste, including manure, household and food residues.
