Abstract

Endophytes are bacteria and fungi that live in plant tissues without

visible symptoms of disease. They improve plant growth, promote their resistance to stress, and synthesize protective metabolites. The term "endophyte" was introduced by A. de Bary in 1866, and active study began in 1977.
