This article examines how the processes of osmosis and diffusion affect the pH distribution. The passive movement of hydrogen ions, the movement of water through semipermeable membranes, and buffer mechanisms in biological systems are important factors in maintaining pH balance. The importance of pH distribution in blood plasma, intracellular processes, and environmental and industrial systems is discussed through examples. This article will help students studying pharmaceutical and biological sciences to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of pH balance.
