Abstract

Ultrasound diagnostics (US) plays an important role in the early detection of inflammatory changes in the pancreas and predicting the severity of the disease. The article considers the role of ultrasound in the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis, its advantages and limitations, as well as the possibilities of using ultrasound to assess complications such as pseudocysts and necrosis. Ultrasound is an accessible, safe method with high sensitivity and specificity in predicting the severity of the disease, however, for a more accurate diagnosis and assessment of complications, CT and MRI are preferable. The review also considers the prospects for using ultrasound in combination with other imaging methods.
