This article discusses the pest of the stink bug (Cossus cossus L.), a member of the family Cossidae, belonging to the order of butterflies. This insect is widespread in Central Asia, in particular in Uzbekistan, and causes serious damage to poplar and willow trees. The authors conducted field observations in Andijan, Fergana, Namangan, and Tashkent regions in 2018–2020 to assess the distribution and extent of damage to this pest. The biology, development cycle, and recommendations for effective control measures of the stink bug are presented.
