Abstract

This thesis work covers the biological and agronomic properties of flax (Linum usitatissimum), its importance in the national economy, chemical composition and beneficial properties on a deep scientific basis. Flax oil is recognized as a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for human health. Flax fiber is widely used in light industry, especially in fabric production. The thesis also focuses on the requirements of flax for climate and soil, cultivation technology, and measures to combat diseases and pests. Information on the pharmacological and ecological significance of flax characterizes it as a multifunctional useful crop.
