INTROGRESSION OF THE TRAIT OF RESISTANCE TO INSECT PESTS IN WILD COTTON SPECIES INTO MEDIUM-STRETCH VARIETIES

The article presents the results of the study of the resistance of the A-256 variety (G. herbaceum subspecies euherbaceum) and the Australian wild cotton species G. nelsonii, as well as diploid and allotetraploid hybrids obtained with their participation to sucking insects, in particular to the aphid (Aleyrodidae). The introgression of this unique trait into the medium-fiber local variety "Ravnaq-1" was studied in field conditions (on a natural background infested with aphids) using morpho-biological methods, and in laboratory conditions based on anatomical analyses. The results obtained confirm that the trait of resistance to sucking insects of wild cotton species is inherited in the obtained hybrids.
