MEMBRANE PROTEINS: STRUCTURE AND ACTION
Keywords:
Membrane proteins, lateral diffusion, flip-flop motion, cytoskeleton, integral proteins, fluid mosaic model.Abstract
This article reviews the structure, types, and mechanisms of movement of proteins in the cell membrane on or within the membrane. The structural and functional significance of membrane proteins, as well as their dynamic properties such as lateral diffusion and flip-flop motion, are analyzed.
