This article covers the history of termites, their classification, species diversity, and damage levels. In particular, termites worldwide consist of 12 families, 330 genera, and 3015 species, of which about 300 are considered dangerous pest species. 7 species have been identified in the CIS countries, 4 in Central Asia, and 3 in Uzbekistan (Anacanthotermes turkestanicus, A. ahngerianus, Amitermes rhizophagus). It also provides information on the physiology, bioecology, molecular identification, and other research areas of these insects.
