This direction was the subject of a number of papers at the 21st International Congress of Refrigeration held in Washington, D.C. in 2003 [6–8]. The main problems related to the practical application of evaporative cooling in refrigeration and air conditioning systems are as follows:

Abstract

The problems inherent in vapor-compressor refrigeration techniques, as well as the issues related to the development of non-ozone-depleting working fluids, have led to a great and growing interest in the possibilities of evaporative cooling for cooling gases and liquids [1–6]. The use of these methods allows for the creation of a new generation of environmentally friendly, low-energy air conditioning systems.
