Abstract

During the period of the New Economic Policy (NEP), which was introduced in 1921 in place of the “War Communism” policy previously implemented in the Soviet state, significant reforms were carried out in Uzbekistan. The introduction of the NEP made it possible to restore the national economy nationwide and set the economy on a specific path of development. This policy also impacted the economy of the Turkestan ASSR, which, at the time (1921), was part of the RSFSR, bringing notable changes to all sectors of the national economy. It should be noted that the national economy of the Turkestan ASSR had unique features that sharply distinguished it from the general economic conditions in the rest of the Union. As a result, the implementation of the NEP in the region was accompanied by several contradictions
