This thesis discusses the stages of mitosis, the main form of cell division, the mechanism of the process, the changes in chromosome and DNA sets, and the biological significance. Mitosis is a complex and continuous process characteristic of somatic cells, resulting in the formation of two genetically identical daughter cells. The thesis analyzes in detail the G₁, S, and G₂ phases of interphase, the structural and functional characteristics of the prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase stages, as well as informal types of division such as amitosis, endomitosis, and polyteny.
