THE EFFECT OF IONIZING RADIATION ON IMMUNITY
Keywords:
Ionizing radiation; immunity; immunosuppression; lymphocytes; oxidative stress; DNA damage; inflammatory response.Abstract
This thesis analyzes the effects of ionizing radiation on the human immune system based on scientific literature and experimental studies. The effects of low, medium and high doses of radiation on the dynamics of immune cells, inflammatory processes, hematopoietic system activity and changes in the immune response are highlighted. The mechanisms of immunosuppressive or immunostimulatory action of radiation, the molecular basis of processes associated with oxidative stress and DNA damage are also discussed. The results of the study are important for assessing the health of individuals working with ionizing radiation, improving the safety of medical radiology and developing immunoprotective strategies.
