ENERGY TRANSDUCTION IN CELL MEMBRANES
Keywords:
energy transduction, chemiosmotic theory, proton motive force (PMF), ATP synthesis, v, chloroplast, respiratory chainAbstract
This article analyzes the processes of energy transduction occurring on cell membranes. The main energy transduction systems of the membrane – photosynthetic membranes of chloroplasts and respiratory chain membranes of mitochondria, as well as energy exchange carried out by proteins of the plasma membrane, are considered. The principle of chemiosmotic coupling, proton motive force (PMF), and ATP synthesis mechanisms are elucidated. The article is intended as a theoretical guide for students and researchers in the fields of biology, biochemistry, and biophysics.
