Abstract

This article studies the inextricable link between the means of artistic imagery and the national mentality in English and Uzbek storytelling on the basis of comparative literary analysis. The study analyzes the role of metaphor, epithet, simile, symbol, and irony in creating an artistic image, revealing the character of the hero, and expressing the socio-psychological environment. A comparative analysis based on examples of the narrative genre of English and Uzbek literature shows that the means of artistic imagery are closely related to national values, historical experience, and cultural thinking. The results of the study scientifically substantiate the fact that the means of artistic imagery are an important poetic mechanism as an expression of the national mentality in the literary text. The article is of theoretical and methodological importance for scientific research in the fields of comparative literary studies and stylistics.
