Abstract

Arundo donax (giant reed) is a perennial rhizomatous plant of the Poaceae family, characterized by its ability to produce high biomass and resistance to environmental stress factors. In this thesis, the bioecological properties, phenology, and adaptation mechanisms of Arundo donax to the arid regions of the Aral Sea were analyzed based on statistical and experimental data. As a result of the experiments, it was determined that the plant has a survival rate of 90–95% in conditions of high salinity and drought. The rapid development of the root system is of great importance in reducing soil erosion and restoring the ecological environment.
