This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the chemical composition, pharmacological properties, and effects of bromhexine on the human body. The molecular structure, lipophilicity, presence of amino groups, and bromine atoms contributing to its biological activity are discussed. The mechanism of action is examined in detail, including the thinning of bronchial mucus, stimulation of bronchial gland secretion, enhancement of ciliated epithelial cell function, and reduction of inflammation. Pharmacokinetic features such as absorption, hepatic metabolism, and renal excretion are also described. Bromhexine is applied in the treatment of acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchial asthma, and tracheobronchitis, particularly effective in facilitating the clearance of thick mucus. The article also addresses potential side effects, drug interactions, and safety considerations. Overall, this study highlights the scientific rationale for the use of bromhexine as an effective mucolytic agent in respiratory diseases.
