BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION OF POLYGONUM AVICULARE L. AND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE COMPOUNDS IN ITS COMPOSITION

This article presents the botanical characteristics, geographical distribution, and chemical composition of Polygonum aviculare L. The pharmacological significance of biologically active compounds, including flavonoids, phenolic acids, saponins, and alkaloids, is analyzed. Special attention is given to gallic acid, chlorogenic acid, quercetin, and catechin, which exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and therapeutic properties. The study highlights the scientific and practical importance of this medicinal plant.
