This article provides a scientific review of Alzheimer's disease and its causes, pathogenesis, and treatment options. The disease is mainly caused by beta-amyloid plaques, pathological aggregation of tau protein, neuroinflammation, and genetic factors. The APOE4, PSEN1, and PSEN2 genes are considered to be the main risk factors for this disease. Preventive measures, including a Mediterranean diet, physical and mental activity, and good sleep hygiene, can help reduce the risk of the disease. In the future, effective treatment strategies based on gene therapy and advanced biotechnological approaches are expected to be developed.
