The ability of nematophagous fungi to infect nematodes is directly related to the enzymes they produce. These fungi secrete proteases, chitinases, and lipases that degrade the nematode cuticle and cell walls. These enzymes play an important role in the capture, penetration, and digestion of nematodes by nematophagous fungi. This thesis is based on a review of the scientific literature on the enzymatic activity of nematophagous fungi, their relationship to nematode pathogenicity, and their importance in biological control.
