ANALYSIS OF RESEARCH ON THE USE OF MEDICAL LEECHES IN HIRUDOTHERAPY
Abstract
Leeches belonging to the genus Hirudo Linnaeus, 1758, have been used in medicine for many years, and in recent years this direction has been called a separate direction of medicine - hirudotherapy. This article analyzes the biological and pharmacological properties of leeches and their clinical applications. In clinical practice, leech therapy has become an auxiliary method for eliminating blood clots in veins in microsurgery. It is also used as an integrative approach to facilitate the treatment of chronic pain and even diabetic ulcers and tumor diseases. Scientific research is aimed at creating new drugs based on leeches, increasing their clinical efficacy and improving safe use protocols. The results obtained show that leeches are a heritage of traditional medicine and serve as a valuable therapeutic tool in modern medicine.
