ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE AUTOMATED ANALYSIS OF DENTAL RADIOGRAPHS: ENHANCING DIAGNOSTIC PRECISION WITH STATISTICAL INSIGHTS

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed the automated analysis of dental radiographs by
improving diagnostic accuracy and efficiency in detecting dental pathologies. This study explores
the role of AI-driven tools, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and deep learning
algorithms, in interpreting dental radiographs for conditions such as caries, periodontal disease,
and periapical lesions. Statistical analyses, including sensitivity, specificity, and area under the
receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), are presented to quantify AI performance.
Challenges such as data variability, model generalizability, and clinical validation are also
examined. The article evaluates the current state and future potential of AI in dental radiograph
analysis.
