Abstract

This article provides information about the main fungal diseases of juniper (Juniperus) and hawthorn (Crataegus) plants, which are widespread in the mountainous regions of Uzbekistan, and the pathogens that cause them. In particular, the biological characteristics, distribution periods and symptoms of diseases such as rust (Gymnosporangium spp.), diplodia (Diplodia juniperi), phomosis (Dothidella juniperi), microthyriosis (Microthyrium juniperi) and powdery mildew (Phyllosticta suffulta f. oxyacanthae) on hawthorn, monilinia (Monilinia johnsonii) on juniper are highlighted. The studies have revealed the high virulence and wide distribution area of the Gymnosporangium confusum species in the natural conditions of Uzbekistan. These pathogens parasitize two types of host plants: juniper - the main host, hawthorn - the intermediate host. The article also provides recommendations on measures to combat these diseases, including agrotechnical and fungicide-based preventive methods. The results of the study are important for improving the phytosanitary situation in forestry, preserving juniper and hawthorn plantations and ensuring their sustainable development.
