PCR ANALYSIS OF THE BETA-CASEIN (CSN2) GENE IN VARIOUS CATTLE BREEDS

Abstract

This scientific research work considers the significance and methodology of analyzing polymorphisms of the CSN2 gene responsible for beta-casein synthesis in different breeds of cattle by PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction). Blood samples were taken from 20 cattle of the Bushuyev, Simmental, and Schwyz breeds, DNA was isolated, PCR was performed on the CSN2 gene, and electrophoretic analysis of PCR products on a 1.5% agarose gel was performed. As a result of analyzing the electropherograms of the CSN2 gene amplification products, the presence of PCR products was determined in all samples, the length of the PCR products was 9000 bp. Thus, no insertion-deletion polymorphisms were detected in the CSN2 gene and its promoter region. In order to identify SNP polymorphisms in the CSN2 gene, sequencing of PCR products is necessary at the next stage.
