Abstract

Ionizing radiation, a type of radiation that has the ability to remove electrons from atoms and form ions, is important in the fields of medicine, nuclear physics, and environmental health. The amount of radiation and its measurement are essential for ensuring safety in various fields, such as medical imaging, cancer treatment, and nuclear energy generation. This article will review the main quantities used to measure ionizing radiation, the units associated with each quantity, and their practical applications. It will also discuss the methods and instruments used to measure radiation, such as the becquerel (Bq) and sievert (Sv) units.
