Abstract

This article comprehensively covers the role, importance and specific features of the education system in a green economy. A green economy is a sustainable development model that ensures economic growth without harming the environment. The implementation of such an economic model requires environmentally conscious, responsible and modern human capital. This, in turn, requires fundamental reforms in the education system. The article critically analyzes the existing approaches to the green economy in the Uzbek education system, interdisciplinary integration, problems in the training of pedagogical personnel, insufficient curricula, technological infrastructure and non-practice-oriented educational processes. Using international experience as an example, effective methods for forming environmental competencies are studied and proposals are made to adapt them to the national system. At the same time, the article also considers the prospects for increasing environmental literacy, introducing “green” innovations in education and promoting environmental culture among young people. Based on the research results, practical recommendations were developed to adapt the education system to the principles of a green economy.
