This article analyzes the decisions made in the Republic of Uzbekistan for children with special needs and the main characteristics of children with mental retardation, factors affecting their development, and specific aspects of the educational and upbringing process. Since these children face certain difficulties in cognitive, speech, emotional and social development, they require a special pedagogical approach. The article is intended for specialists working in the field of special pedagogy, defectology and speech therapy, as well as for parents.
