Ensuring environmental safety in the process of food storage is one of the important directions for ensuring food safety and environmental protection on a global scale. This study analyzes the environmental problems arising from food storage, in particular, the impact of microplastic pollution from plastic packaging, energy consumption, chemicals and food waste on the ecosystem. The study considers current problems such as the fact that improper management of storage conditions accounts for 30-40% of global food losses and increases the carbon footprint in this process. Innovative approaches are proposed as solutions, such as the use of biodegradable packaging materials, monitoring technologies based on energy-efficient refrigeration systems and the use of natural preservatives. These measures will serve to increase environmental safety in the process of food storage, reduce threats to human health and minimize negative impacts on the environment. The results of the study are of practical importance for specialists in the food industry, logistics and ecology, and will serve to introduce sustainable storage practices.
