GAMIFICATION IN EDUCATION: ENHANCING LEARNING OUTCOMES THROUGH GAME-BASED MECHANISMS

Gamification - the application of game design elements in non-game contexts - has emerged as an important pedagogical innovation in modern education. This article examines the theoretical foundations, mechanisms, and pedagogical outcomes of gamification in educational settings. Drawing on self-determination theory, flow theory, and constructivist learning approaches, the study analyzes how elements such as scores, badges, leaderboards, events, and tasks affect student motivation and academic achievement.
