CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND MEDICINAL PROPERTIES OF THE OLIVE PLANT

This work analyzes the chemical composition of the olive (Olea europaea) plant, rich in biologically active substances, and its importance in human health. During the study, quantitative indicators of the unsaturated fatty acids oleate, linoleate, flavonoids, and oleuropein, a powerful antioxidant, contained in olive fruit and leaves, were presented. The preventive properties of olive extracts in normalizing cholesterol levels, lowering blood pressure, and preventing atherosclerosis and cancer were described. Also, the effectiveness of the plant in reducing glucose levels and skin care was substantiated from the point of view of folk medicine and modern pharmacology.
